Learn More About Our Area
Shreveport and Bossier City are located in the northwest corner of Louisiana. The region’s unique blend of Louisiana culture and Texas flair make it a comfortable place to live with much to do. Shreveport is known as the hub of the” Ark-La-Tex,” where Arkansas, Louisiana and Texas meet.
LSU Health Shreveport is integral to the local economy, and health care is a major employer across the area. Barksdale Air Force Base also draws families to the region and serves as a top job provider. The film industry has a presence in the areas, with movies such as Olymupus Has Fallen, Mad Money and Battle: Los Angeles shot here. There are six casinos along the Red River, which divides Shreveport and Bossier City, providing service industry jobs.
“Shreveport-Bossier is a well-kept secret. We have no traffic, it’s easy to get around, you can live out in the country and still be close enough to commute to work with ease. We have the Red River, lakes, recreational activities, good schools—all the amenities of a big city are here with a small city atmosphere.”

Whether you prefer the suburbs, urban neighborhoods within walking distance to school, downtown living or the quiet of a more rural neighborhood, there are many options. Many students and employees choose to live near campus in the historic South Highlands neighborhood while others rent apartments along the Clyde Fant Parkway. Bossier City homes and apartments can be a good option for growing families, as can neighborhoods in the southeast part of Shreveport.
